Showcasing the Garden Route’s creative talent, the Local Design and Food Market takes place on Thursday 20 December 2012 from 5pm to 9pm at the Knysna Square upper level parking in Rawson Street (above Checkers). This increasingly popular market offers a range of locally produced, handmade gifts and spoils for yourself, as well as yummy food. Make sure that you arrive early!
But Knysna also offers markets on a more regular basis. The ever popular Friday Night Market off Welbedacht Road is the perfect spot for catching up with the locals and meeting new friends. Follow the scarecrow signposts between 4pm and 8pm and embark on a culinary adventure while relaxing by the bonfire and enjoying the live music. Kids can have fun in the play area while adults enjoy the well stocked bar, and everyone can browse the colourful arts and crafts stalls.
Sedgefield represents the greater Knysna area with the award winning Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings. Packed to the brim with locally grown produce and food of the eat-there or take-away variety, free range meats and dairy, freshly bottled and baked goods, plenty for the sweet tooth and freshly cut flowers, it is clear to see why this market, now in its 13th year, regularly wins awards as well as the hearts of its regular visitors.
In close proximity to the Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market are the Scarab and Island Markets. These offer visitors delectable munchies as well as breathtaking crafts and artwork.

Back in Knysna, the Knysna Arts & Craft Market at the corner of Vigilance and George Rex Drives operates on a daily basis. This community development project by Knysna Municipality showcases locally made wire art, sculptures, kitchen items and more.
