Challenge your senses and join us in Knysna as the 2014 Knysna Literary Festival presents a literary feast for book lovers while contributing to local non-profit organisations.
Have you ever wished that you could shoot the breeze with ‘Spud’ author John van de Ruit, or discuss South African politics with someone who really knows what’s going on, like Frank Chikane, Max du Preez and Vusi Pikoli? The Knysna Literary Festival once again delivers a true literary experience to bookworms as the organisers proudly present these, and other award winning authors at this year’s festival.
Also on the bill are a talk with investigative journalist Julian Rademeyer on the rhino poaching crisis, remarkable story teller Alan Weyer chats about the Eastern Cape frontier wars and Tim Plewman of ‘Defending the Cave Man’ fame entertains with insights on keeping fit and losing weight for those over 50 in ‘Fitness for Old Farts’. Additional names on the programme include Yrsa Sigurdardottir, Jassy Mackenzie, Stanley Trollip, Ivo Vegter, Karen Jayes, Tim Noakes, Patricia Glyn and Andrew Campbell.
There is also a great programme for the young bunch as The Lilliput Children’s Theatre brings Red Riding Hood to life and the festival once again runs its Young Writers Competition, with special guest Sipho Hlongwane presenting this year’s Award Ceremony.
Unfortunately the very popular Delicious Word Journey has already been sold out, as has the creative writing workshop – a new event on the calendar. In other words, tickets are selling fast, so make sure you don’t miss out!
